HOLY BAPTISM
Adeline Lynn Cleaver, baby daughter of Jonathan and Stephanie Cleaver, received the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit on Saturday, August 1. We rejoice with the Cleaver family and pray that God will keep this precious lamb in her baptismal grace all her life.
CALLED HOME
David J. Retzlaff, age 62, was called from this world to eternal glory on July 25 after a brief illness. Services for Dave were conducted on August 1, here at St. Paul, Hillsboro church. We mourn with the family, but rest on God’s promise of eternal life and salvation through Jesus, our Savior. Please keep the family in your prayers during this time of loss.
QUARTERLY CONGREGATIOnAL MEETING —August 2
The quarterly meeting will be held today right after the 10:30am service. Items on the agenda will be membership changes and other items. All are encouraged to attend.
DIVINE CALL
2 calls were placed for associate pastors on July 19. They were to Rev. Seth Georgson who is currently serving at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Saint Louis, MO and to Rev. Matthew Guse, who serves at Northdale Lutheran Church in Tampa, Florida. Please keep these men and their families in prayer as they begin the deliberation process. BIBLE INFORMATION CLASS
A new Bible Information Class will be starting up on September 23. More information can be found in back. Any teen or adult that would be interested in possibly helping with some childcare while parents attend classes, please let Jan Fick know. We will see what the need for it is as the class gets closer.
WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY
Women’s Bible study will meet 2 more sessions (August 5 and August 12) and then take a break for the rest of the summer. These next 2 weeks we will be studying “Bible Sisters”, each study focusing on a woman from the Bible. Time is 6:30 for fellowship and then study at 7 at the Wonewoc campus. All ladies are welcome. Bring a friend! Fall studies resume on September 16. Watch for more information.
KIDS AND TECHNOLOGY
Any interested parent or community member is invited to an informative presentation, on August 2 at Luther High in Onalaska on "How Is Technology Impacting Our Children?" There is more information on a flyer in back. W-C Schools is also having a similar presentation on Wednesday, August 5 at 6:00pm. This one is titled “Connected or Consumed? Reclaiming Childhood in a Digital Age.”
SCHOOL GROUNDS CLEAN-UP AUGUST 5.
Meet at school on Wednesday, August 5 at 6pm for a clean-up evening for the school grounds. Bring your rakes, gloves, wheelbarrows, hedge trimmers, and any other cleanup tools you have. Many hands make light work, and we’d love to see as many families as possible! You do not have to have a child in school to help with this. Congregation members are welcome and appreciated!
SCHOOL REGISTRATION & OPEN HOUSE DATES
Next Sunday, August 9, right after the 10:30 service will be school registration. All families should be there if at all possible. If you can’t make it, let the school office know and we will set up a time to get your child registered. (We will have some school supplies available for giveaway to anyone that needs them, so check before you purchase). Open House will be Wednesday, August 26, from 6-7pm for dropping off stuff and checking out the classrooms.
CHARITY TRACTOR PULL CONCESSIONS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED
It has been decided we will NOT have concessions at the Charity Tractor Pull this year. Thank you to all who have given of their time and labor over the years. (Sr. Choir members are still planning on singing the National Anthem at the start of the Saturday evening session. Check the Choir Facebook page for more information.
